Woodville Hospitality Station

'Fun Things for children to do in Mississippi' is the tourism theme for June 2013. Stop by and let us tell you about zoos, water parks, camping spots, museums and hiking falls in Mississippi. Who knows, you may just happen to see a traveling petting zoo on our green space.
THE HISTORY OF WOODVILLE HOSPITALITY STATION
The Woodville Hospitality Station in Woodville, Mississippi, is firmly based in the vernacular style respecting the historical context of this architecturally rich area of the state. Traditional materials, forms and scale, which have evolved over time, reflect the impacts of environment and culture on the architecture of Southwest Mississippi. The red clay brick and wood timber framing are indigenous materials which have most commonly defined methods of construction in the region. Volume within the space reflects the historical importance of ventilation in the shaping of architecture in the deep south. The invitation of the deep-cut and shaded front porch is in keeping with traditional Mississippi hospitality.
