The 2013 NLCC (Natchez Literary and Cinema Celebration) will take place during the middle of the sesquicentennial observance of America's Civil War, 1861-1865. For more than 150 years, that war has influenced not only historians but also legions of creative people. For four days, the 24th annual NLCC will examine how creative people have referred to the war in fiction, drama, poetry, film, music, painting sculpture and re-enacting.
In addition, the NLCC will explore numerous physical references to the war which abound in Natchez houses, churches, cemeteries and other sites.
The great conflict between the North and the South indeed ended in 1865, but its impact continues to resonate.
