Lovers of Literature from far and wide will gather for “Mississippi’s Literary Lawn Party” August 15, 2020, for the sixth annual Mississippi Book Festival, a free expo celebrating the state’s renowned literary scene.
Last year’s festival saw more than 7,500 bookworms descend upon the Mississippi State Capitol grounds. Festival planners look to exceed that number this year as more than 180 writers will be in attendance.
From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., visitors can attend 40+ panels to hear authors and writers discuss their craft.
Sessions are split between rooms at the Capitol and Galloway United Methodist Church, just across Mississippi Street. Between sessions, attendees of all ages can participate in book signings, Capitol tours, writers’ exhibits along Author’s Alley, food trucks and family-friendly activities at the Kids Corner on the Capitol lawn.
Like a great page-turner, your challenge will be finding time to fit all the events into your schedule. Find the impressive schedule of authors and sessions on the Mississippi Book Festival website.
