Bring your lawn chairs and join us for a free concert from Keith Johnson known as the “Prince of the Delta Blues” on the Gateway to the Blues Museum and Visitor Centers stage. Concert starts at 6pm.
“The Prince of Delta Blues” Keith Johnson is a 23 year old 2016 graduate of The Delta State University. Keith an accomplished blues musician who won the 2016 International Blues Challenge in Vicksburg , Mississippi with his “Big Muddy Band.”
He is the great nephew of the iconic blues legend, Muddy Waters and the grandson of Texcellar Fields, a Delta gospel singer and radio personality.
He has played lead guitar in the Delta State University All-Star Band and with blues musician/entertainer Grady Champion, the 2010 International Blues Challenge winner and GRAMMY winning songwriter with whom, Keith tours with periodically as Grady’s lead guitarist as part of the “Deep Pocket Band.
Keith has opened for the band Perry at the Mississippi Week at the GRAMMY’s in Los Angles, California in 2015 and the unveiling of the Mississippi Grammy Museum Blues Trail Marker Ceremony in Cleveland, Mississippi.
Keith performed at the 2016 Chicago Blues Festival and while at the Chicago Festival he was the featured artist for The Willie Dixon Blues Heaven Foundation’s “Hot Blues Night” that was headlined by Alligator, Mississippi recording artist, Johnny Drummer.
