GRAMMY Museum® Mississippi presents From Gospel to Rock n’ Roll: A Weekend Honoring Elvis, April 20–21, 2018 at the Museum in Cleveland, Miss. The weekend will feature special performances, film screenings, and intimate conversations with close friends, bandmates and associates of Elvis Presley, including James Burton, Andy Childs, Gene Chrisman, Glen D. Hardin, Hal Lansky of Lansky Bros., Norbert Putnam, Jerry Schilling and Graceland’s Jack Soden. The special guests will lead discussions on Presley’s personal life, music legacy, and the importance of his Mississippi roots. Tom Brown, host of Tupelo Elvis Festival and Elvis Week at Graceland, will serve as moderator during the panel discussions.
“Elvis is a Mississippi native and beloved by so many people that we could take a whole year honoring him,” said Emily Havens, Executive Director of GRAMMY Museum Mississippi. “This will be a special weekend for us and fans alike because we are fortunate to have some of Elvis’ close friends, bandmates and associates share their personal experiences with the King of Rock & Roll.”
Events during the weekend celebration include:
- A sneak peek of video clips from the HBO documentary Elvis Presley: The Searcher, with Executive Producer, Jerry Schilling
- A glimpse behind the scenes of Graceland and Elvis Presley Enterprises with Jack Soden, CEO of Elvis Presley Enterprises
- A film screening of He Touched Me: The Gospel Music of Elvis Presley
- A live concert with A Band of Legends, a group of studio musicians that Elvis worked closely with

GRAMMY Museum Mississippi is located at 800 W Sunflower Road, Cleveland, MS 38732. Ticket packages for the weekend celebration range from $70 to $200. An early bird special with packages ranging from $50 to $175 will run through April 6. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at the Museum box office or online. Proceeds From Gospel to Rock n’ Roll: A Weekend Honoring Elvis will benefit the Museum’s education programs.
