November 16 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

$30

Join us for this evening of opera and musical theater highlights that will take you on a beautiful, funny, and wild roller coaster ride of musical emotion.

Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the Belhaven University Center for the Performing Arts • 7:30 p.m.

No other art form has as many stereotypes and caricatures as opera. We have all seen the comic portrayal of sopranos in armor and helmets with horns screaming at the top of their lungs. However, opera has another side, that of beautiful and dramatic arias that bring tears to your eyes no matter how many times you hear them. Such is the stuff of opera!

Opera’s sister art form, musical theatre, contains the same breadth of emotion from tender moments of love and intimate joy to episodes of hilarious comedy and ferocious conflict.

Starring the musical talents of:
Susan Williams, soprano • Alexis Davis-Hazell, mezzo-soprano • Peter Lake, tenor • Paul Houghtaling, baritone and director • Kevin T. Chance, piano • And the Mississippi Opera Chorus

Tickets are $30 in advance / $35 at the door.

This project is supported in part by funding from the MS Arts Commission, a state agency and in part, from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
