Traditional tours will be Monday-Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 23 through Dec. 30. 1 to 6 p.m plus on four Sundays, Nov. 29, Dec. 6, 13, and 20.
The Meridian Restoration Foundation is pleased to announce details for the 52nd Annual Trees of Christmas at Greek Revival Merrehope (circa 1858) and Victorian F.W. Williams (circa 1896) historic homes. Both homes are listed on the National Register of Historic Places and are designated Mississippi Landmark and are located at 905 Martin Luther King Memorial Dr. In Meridian.
Since 1968 Trees of Christmas has provided a holiday spectacular event featuring theme decorated trees and displays to delight young and old, locals and visiting tourists. The year 2020 has been a challenging time for all, but especially for non-profit organizations who depend on paying visitors to “keep the lights on” and to provide an educational, cultural, historical venue designed to entertain and educate. Betty Lou Jones, President of the Foundation has made the following statement, ”After careful consideration regarding the guidelines during the Covid-19 Pandemic and recognition that we are able to present an outstanding event while adhering to rules and safety regulations of masks, hand sanitizer, temperature checking, questions regarding current status of the visitor and staff and social distancing we are excited to announce that in keeping with our commitment to provide a stellar event each year for the pleasure of our visitors and enhance our tourism economic development mission we invite you to bring your family, friends, co-workers and out of town guests to TREES of CHRISTMAS 2020 and “Making Merre With Our Neighbors!”
This year our neighbors from surrounding counties are joining in presenting another fantastic holiday event. Volunteers from Lauderdale, Clarke and Jasper Counties will be featuring businesses, organizations and events that represent our neighbors. Over thirty trees will be decorated by Fortnightly Club (an original club of the Meridian Restoration Foundation), JC Jasper County Center Stained Glass Class, The Clarke County Tribune, East Mississippi Regional Libraries, MCC Honors College, MCC Book Store and MCC Continuing Education, Hope Village for Children, A and B Electric, Debs Social Service Club, Enterprise Elementary Art Students, Friendship Garden Club, Rose Hill Historical Society, Magnolia Quilt Guild, Clarke County Chamber of Commerce and Clarkco State Park and Archusa Lake, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, Al’s Gift and Garden, World of Flowers, Over the Moon Children’s Boutique, Meridian Museum of Art, The Atrium, M and M Florist, Fantasy Cottage, St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Meridian Museum of Art, Naval Air Station Meridian, Happy Healthy Pet Adoption, Friends of Chickasawhay River and others to be announced.
Trees of Christmas is the perfect way to make MERRE with your neighbors. The event opens with a Premiere Tour on Sunday, November 22 from 1 to 6 p.m. with music and refreshments. Traditional tours will be Monday-Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 23 through Dec. 30. 1 to 6 p.m plus on four Sundays, Nov. 29, Dec. 6, 13, and 20. The event will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Day, New Year’s Eve and Day!
A special feature this year is free admission for any health care worker presenting their facility badge. This free admission is being offered to show thanks and great appreciation to all heath care workers who have become our heroes during the pandemic.
Admission prices for the Premier Tour on Sunday, Nov. 22 – 1 to 6 p.m. is $20 adults, $5 students. All Traditional Holiday Tours are adults $10, students $5, children under 4 free. Discounts are $1 per person for active military and senior citizens.
