Experience The Blues Where They Were Born
The Mississippi Blues Trail is your unforgettable journey into the land that produced arguably the single most important inspiration of modern popular music. Whether a die-hard blues fan or a casual traveler in search of an authentic experience, follow the trail and you'll visit places you’ve never been and learn facts that you didn’t know about the area that is the birth place of the Blues.
The Mississippi Blues Trail was created by the Mississippi Blues Commission in 2006 to place interpretive markers at the most notable historical sites related to the birth, growth and influence of the blues throughout (and in some cases beyond) the state of Mississippi. As of November 2017, there were 200 markers extending from the Gulf Coast north along several highways to Natchez, Vicksburg, Jackson, Leland, Greenwood, Clarksdale, Tunica, Grenada, Oxford, Columbus, Meridian and many other points. The largest concentration of markers is in the Mississippi Delta where it is believed the Blues were born among the dust and cotton fields.
